Before I get into it, this is what I'm looking for:
- Somewhere close to where I'll be getting ready before the ceremony, or even able to have someone come to me.
- The option of airbrush. My skin is far from flawless and I've heard that airbrush is great.
- Reasonably priced.
- Someone that will make me look fabulous!
When my older sister got married she had her hair done professionally in the hotel, but got her makeup done at a counter in a department store. She looked wonderful on her day. My mom keeps pushing for this route, but I don't think I want to be schlepping around the mall that morning.
The company I found through Wedding Wire is called Appease. They come to you on your day and offer airbrush makeup. I talked to someone over the phone the day Jimmy and I registered and she answered some of my questions. There are so many wonderful reviews and pictures from past clients on their Wedding Wire page that I would feel comfortable hiring them before having a trial.
If I had my hair and airbrush makeup done at the place I will be getting ready, Appease charges $200 total. On top of that the trial, also done at my home, is $75. I feel like it's a reasonable price for everything, but still a lot of money. It would be the same price if my BMs want their hair and makeup done. If 3 get hair and makeup done, mine would be half off. I will not be making my BMs hire Appease, but give them the option. $200 is a lot of money, and the only reason I'm considering it is because I want to look my best on the day and in the photos.
Some examples of Appease's work:
I'm stuck. I don't know what to do but feel that I need to get this figured out soon. I feel like living so close to Chicago makes the prices of everything skyrocket, so when I compare Appease prices to other places, Appease seems like a great deal.

I agree that it sounds reasonably priced. How about doing the trial so you can see their work on yourself and then deciding? And I agree about not making your ladies go this route as it is a lot of money for someone who isn't the bride :)
I agree that it is worth it to hire someone awesome and know you'll look your best! I have had to hire several vendors sight unseen from since i am planning from so far away. resources like weddingwire have been great and introduced me to some great professionals. i say go for it! As for the bridesmaids, i don't know your girls- but i wouldnt count on getting the discount. that is a lot of money to spend for them on top of all the other bridesmaid costs.
The price for your hair and makeup on location and airbrushing is exactly the same as my stylist is charging (including the trial). However, I'm not going the airbrushing route, just regular. So you are getting a great deal on that for sure.
But I don't think they should be charging your BM's the same exact price. The bride is almost always more than the BM's because they spend much more time on you on your day. My stylist is spending about 2 hours on me for hair and makeup but only 45 minutes for hair and makeup for each girl. And she is only charging them $70.00 each. I say try to renegotiate that price for sure. But the rest sounds great...and their work is really good.
