All Purdy

Mom and I went to visit Cog Hill today. We were going to see what it looked like all set up before a wedding reception. It was very beautiful. The bride did simple arrangements alternating high and low centerpieces. Some had flowers, others floated candles over submerged twigs. The theme for her table numbers were types of wine. Instead of a guest book she and her fiancé chose a few bottles of wine for guests to sign. Seating cards were held up with wine corks. I think there was going to be a candy buffet, but it hadn't been set up yet. The florist was still setting up so I made sure to ask one of the ladies for a business card even though I'm pretty sure Jimmy's neighbor who is a florist will be doing the wedding.

The tall arrangements were gorgeous and I think if I can afford it, I'd love something similar for our reception. There were only 4 of these in the whole hall. They were on the round tables on the sides of the room. The white long pieces of paper are menus supplied by the golf club. They weren't done very nicely so I'll probably do my own. The bride created simple table name cards by printing out the names on plain white paper and gluing it to burgundy card stock. Not too fancy, but it got the job done.

Love long tables!

The guest list for this wedding looked pretty small because they only were occupying the main part of the room and none of the extra space that we were told that we would need for our 200+ guest list.

The round tables between the tall arrangements had these candles. Simple and pretty.

Some tables had these short round arrangements. Some also had only red rose petals that looked strange by themselves, but they may have not set up the rest of the table.

I made sure to take a picture of the outside of the club. The big tree right out front had turned bright red and very pretty. The sad thing was all the ground that held flowers in the spring and summer were empty and there were large spaces of dirt. I definitely think some of those wedding jack-o-lanterns would spruce it up a little.

Here it is in the summer when my dad and I signed the contract.

And now today in the fall. I think some illuminated pumpkins would be pretty.

Today inspired me to talk to Dawn (Jimmy's neighbor) about flowers. I haven't been too excited about that part of the planning process until now with ideas flowing through my head.

Also, on the way out we ran into an old friend of my mom's. Her children went to the same preschool as my younger sister and I. She's one of the event managers of the club and I really hope that she'll be in charge of our wedding day. I like her a whole lot better than Jim who is the head manager whom we've done all of our business with so far.

Wow, the flowers sure looked nicer when you went there to sign your contract, but the fall tree does look nice. I agree, the wedding pumpkins would have been perfect to fill in the dirt spaces!
