So today I thought I'd do a post about if I gave up control of planning our wedding and let my mom take over. I love my mom so much and she has been so supportive of me and this wedding. I always keep her up to date a discuss everything to do about our upcoming nuptials. Since before I got engaged, Mom and I have dreamed of over-the-top weddings, especially Disney Weddings.
Disney Weddings are a whole different breed of weddings. They can happen on Disney property, and even in a theme park of your choice. Can you imagine getting married in front of Cinderella's Castle in the Rose Garden? The ultimate princess wedding. I think you'd almost have to be a princess since it comes with a $28,000 price tag... just for the ceremony!
My entire family loves everything about Disney, including the movies and resorts. I've been on more Disney vacations than I can count, and I even participated in the Walt Disney World College Program in the Spring of 2003. Mom wants me to be a princess on my wedding day, and would LOVE to have it held at WDW. She pretty much was hypnotized by the tiara display at the bridal salons we visited. One part of me totally agrees with her and dreams of the wedding pavilion and a reception on The Boardwalk, but a Disney wedding would greatly limit our guest list, and the one thing Jimmy said he wanted after we got engaged was a large wedding with all his friends and family in attendance. I know those who have had a Disney wedding (and also my mom) will argue that we could always have a big reception at home, but I just didn't feel 100% confident that a Disney wedding would be "us." Especially since Jimmy isn't as gung-ho about Disney as me and my family.
So... if I gave up control and let my mom plan my wedding, this is what it would most likely look like.
The ceremony would take place at the wedding pavilion. With all the grandeur of a classic Victorian summer home, its palm-fringed solarium and views of Cinderella Castle across the Seven Seas Lagoon, the Wedding Pavilion offers a ceremony of style and grace.
Our guests would then be transported to Epcot where our reception will be held within the American Adventure Rotunda. This magnificent setting is grand and opulent, the ideal setting for an elegant reception dinner. The pavilion is reminiscent of some of the finest colonial architecture in the nation. It features soaring ceilings and stately white columns in the central Rotunda and the impressive Hall of Flags.

Finally, we would have a dessert party on the Italy Isola to view Illuminations, the nightly firworks show on World Showcase Lagoon.
Of course this doesn't begin to show you what a Disney Wedding entails, but those would be the main ingredients. We'd all stay at the Grand Floridian and have tea parties and brunches with family and I'd ride to the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage... but you see how much my mom dreams of this. I think before I finalized the Cog Hill contract she'd bring it up at least once a week.
I do want to incorporate Disney somehow, but I'm just not sure where. I mentioned it to Amanda my MOH about possibly theming the bridal shower Disney, but that's all really not up to me (even though Amanda is as big a Disney nerd as I am!)
I know that even though our wedding will not be Disney, there will be many MANY vacations there to look forward to. We're actually planning a combined family WDW/ Disney Cruise vacation for the summer of 2010!!

Another Disney freak here!!! We are getting married at the Wedding Pavillion and you are right...those pictures don't do it justice!! You are one of the few people who sees the positive side to a Disney wedding. So many people give me wierd looks or think it's childish!
