Dessert Debate

Since the very beginning of our engagement Jimmy said he wanted pie at the wedding instead of cake. I was thrilled that he had an opinion on anything to do with the wedding, so I said we could do pie. Personally I've never been a fan of pie. Chunks of fruit with the gooey jam-like center kinda makes me want to throw up. Also, the flakey crust is not appealing to me. However, I do enjoy cream pies like chocolate, banana, and pumpkin... mmmmm pumpkin pie.

I've been trying to figure out the logistics of having pie as our wedding dinner dessert. Cog Hill would have to cut the pie without making a complete mess out of the slices, and Jim said it would be the bar tenders who would cut it. Pie is hard to cut as it is, so I want to avoid that. I googled "wedding pie" and come up with some random images, but this one caught my eye.

I like the idea of having individual pies of each for our guests. We could even give the guests different options of flavors. I'd choose apple and pumpkin for choices. I wonder how much it would cost to make these or have them made.

Still... I can't get this image out of my head for our fall wedding...

Maybe we could have a single layer of this cake for the cutting? But then would that be weird if we cut cake and then served pie?
