Not Yet

I still live with my parents. There's really no way to sugarcoat it. After I graduated from College I had a difficult time finding a full-time position in education. Illinois is heavily saturated with newly graduated teachers, and with the economy many schools have had to let go experienced teachers. So when applying to schools I'm up against hundreds and hundreds of candidates, most of which have actual experience outside of student teaching. Since graduation I've been a substitute for a year, and the year and a half following worked in special education as an aide for a child with special needs. So I haven't been making the big bucks to move out.

Jimmy on the other hand is a successful electrician and purchased his first house in May of 2008. As soon as he moved in he wanted to know when I'd be moving with him. I was hesitant because I wouldn't be able to afford my portion of the mortgage and I am FAR from a freeloader.

Now that we're engaged and I'll be making a little more money this year, Jimmy's pushing for my move again. I'm ready to make it happen, but I think I'll wait a little longer. Jimmy's in the middle of a lot of renovations including both bathrooms and the entire basement. I help whenever I'm there, but if I move on top of all that Jimmy would be overwhelmed.

Really I spend most nights at Jimmy's house anyway, but all my stuff is still at home. Jimmy can handle me, but all my things may put him over the edge! So until things settle down over there (and Jimmy's built my walk-in closet!!) I'll be here with Mom and Dad.
