Finally around 3pm on Sunday my parents met us at Jimmy's house. They hadn't seen his house ever so we took a few minutes to show them around and chat before heading out to the restaurant.
Jimmy's mom had picked an Italian place located within the Oak Brook Mall called Antico Posto. It was tough to find, but lucky we found it just before it started to rain. Minutes after we arrived, Jimmy's mom and dad came through the doors. Here we go... This is it... I was ready to barf.
We were seated at a large booth and the conversation started flowing. Strangely easily!! We shared appetizers and stories, ate the most wonderful food, and enjoyed everyone's company. 2 hours later we were leaving and heading back to Jimmy's to visit more.
3 hours of talking and laughing later, everyone headed home. I was amazed with how fun and easy it was. It's a HUGE weight off my shoulders and I feel that the rest of our lives will be so much more relaxed that everyone got along. Birthday parties will be fun, holiday celebrations won't stress me out! Everyone told me it would be fine, but I'm so glad how well it all went!

LOL this didn't go quite as well for me. My mom could have dinner with Hitler and still have nice things to say, but FMIL was VERY drunk, rude, and annoying. Something we're all used to by now... but it was an embarrassing evening. I'm glad it worked out for you guys!

Oh gosh I'm sorry that your first meeting didn't go as well. I was afraid of being embarrassed, too. Luckily it didn't turn out that way. Jimmy and I joked that we hoped his mom didn't drink that night because she get very loud and crazy with a few too many drinks in her!
