A Dress For Me And A Dress For Them

When Amanda came to visit last week, we made a trip back to David's Bridal to not only pick up my gorgeous Oleg dress, but also to search for bridesmaid dresses.

I was more than a little exctited to be trying on MY dress for the very first time!

I requested that Kate be our assistant during our appointment because she was so great during our last trip to DB. She greeted us and asked what we wanted to do first, try on my dress or have Amanda and Alison try bridesmaid dresses. Amanda immediately spoke up and requested that I try on my dress because 1. she hadn't seen me in my dress 2. it would be nice to be able to see the bridesmaid dresses against my dress and 3. she knew how much I was dying to get her on. As soon as I was laced in and stepped in front of the mirror I fell in love all over again. The dress was better than what I remembered, and because it was a size smaller, it looked even better on me.

DB had put an Oleg Cassini display up at the mirrors, and my dress was on a mannequin. I was a little annoyed that my dress was up there for everyone to see and fall in love with, but it was nice to get a picture of the front and back of the dress at the same time. One of the managers of the store jokingly asked if I was willing to model the back of the dress next to the front to show off how beautiful it was to other brides. There is no question that I would LOVE to do nothing but stand in my lovely all day long!

It still needs to be taken in a little at the waist, and adjusted at the bust. Also, I was able to try heel heights with the dress, and discovered that I wouldn't be able to do anything over 1.5" heels because the dress would be too short otherwise. Plus I would then dwarf Jimmy!

After pictures had been taken, Kate started bringing out bridesmaid dresses for the girls to try. I sat happily in my dress as they each came out, dress after dress. I didn't take any pictures because my camera battery was about to die, but there really wasn't anything picture worthy. There were a few that I liked, and a few that Alison and Amanda liked, but none of us could agree on one dress. What I liked, Amanda and Alison didn't like. What Amanda liked, Alison and I didn't like. And Alison didn't like anything. After 2 hours of dresses, we decided to call it a night.

I discovered that I really want the girls to be able to pick the style of their dress in the color of my choice. I've been hooked on Aria dresses since I stumbled upon them back in May. All of the dresses come in every color they offer, so it would be easy to please everyone. The only negative is that no one lives close to a showroom so we'd have to order online. Most of the testimonials say that most dresses do not need to be altered which would be a huge plus. They do offer a try-on program where you can order a dress to try on and then ship it back for a small fee, so if one of my girls wanted to see what a style looks like on their body they have that option.

I have plenty of time before I have to start worrying about bridesmaid dresses, but it would be nice to get out of the way early!
