Another Reception Option

Having Jimmy off of work all this past week was really very nice. He came over all day on Thursday, and we spent a good portion of time discussing wedding details, mostly trying to figure out where else to look for our reception. We were both getting confused, and everything we looked at started to blend together. I made a quick Sticky on my Mac to keep track of the places we are seriously considering so far. After over an hour of googling countless country clubs and banquet halls (yuck, but I'm starting to expand my options), I called and made an appointment to see White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville.

So Friday afternoon, Jimmy and I picked up Steve and we went on our way. A short drive up 83 and we were there. The grounds we gorgeous, and the lady who was in the administrative office was adorable. We were introduced to a young girl (I don't remember her name) and taken down to the hall. It was being set up for a small wedding, so we were able to get an idea of how it would look set up.

Everything seemed very reasonable for what you get for the price. We'd get the 2009 prices, plus $6 off per guest. I was not impressed with the hall itself. The walls were grey, the carpet was grey, and the chairs were grey. All very bland.

The nice thing about it is that it's very close to Jimmy's church. I'm not very fond of my church's pastor, and after going to Jimmy's church on Christmas Eve, I would like to get married there. If we were to choose a reception hall further away, we'd have to find somewhere else to have the ceremony, and I'm not sure I'd like to get married outdoors. Just one more stress on the two of us. Will it rain? Where will the back up ceremony be? How much extra will it be to rent chairs? What if it's too cold/hot? Ugh I'd rather not have to deal with that.

So White Pines is in the running, but both Jimmy and I are leaning toward Cog Hill so far.
