Our Second Wedding Adventure: Success!

We're back from Punta Cana, nicely tanned and not quite fully back to real life. Since Jimmy had the entire week off, and will be going on his annual canoeing trip in Canada starting July 31st, his union wasn't able (or willing) to put him on a job right away. So, taking full advantage of his time off, we took a trip to see Cog Hill.

Cog Hill doesn't make appointments to see the banquet hall, so Tuesday afternoon I called to make sure someone would be there to show us around. Happily the banquet manager said he would be available for us to stop by at any time that afternoon. Cog Hill is in Lemont, so a 15 minute drive from my house later, and we were there. No confusion this time. I knew exactly where we were headed.

We entered the main building and immediately were greeted with the enormous main dining room with massive beams, 30 foot ceilings, leaded windows, and stone fireplace. After a short wait, Jim met with us and went over a typical wedding reception at Cog Hill. Using all the rooms available, the site sits 280 people. Realistically our list of 250 will end up at 200. One of my high school friends works as a hostess there and said that the room fits 200 well, but anything over that is not as comfortable. So that's one thing to think about. The prices are wonderful, and I am in love with the decor. Think old world chalet. Jimmy thought it was very nice and liked the prices. Cog Hill is definitely in the running.

Unfortunately, they only had 2 dates available in October. The 23rd and 30th. It looks like we're going to have to act fast. Look at other venues and decide where we want fast. I don't want to put it off and find that Cog Hill was the winner only to have no dates available in October. I don't want to make any rash decisions though. We'll have to keep the search on and hope to find the place we both love.
