The Proposal

I was completely caught off-guard when Jimmy proposed. It was a Wednesday evening and I came over to Jimmy's house after work. He wasn't home when I got there so I was just hanging out watching tv until he got home. We went through our normal routine, and Jimmy did not seem to be acting any different like I hear most guys get right before a proposal. After Jimmy showered and got dressed we decided to get some groceries for dinner. We picked up the ingredients to make chicken alfredo gnocchi. Mmmmm it was soooo yummy!

After dinner I was sitting on the couch watching a Travel Channel show on the Grand Canyon. Jimmy was in the kitchen doing the dishes, and afterwards went into his room for a while. He came out, went back through the kitchen and sat next to me on the couch. When he sat down I could tell something was up. He had this goofy look on his face like he was hiding something, so I assumed he was keeping cookies from me. I said, "what do you have?" then he put his head on my shoulder and said, "Jillriegh..." as I replied, "yes?..." he pulled out my ring on his pinky finger and asked, "will you marry me?" I was in complete shock and did not believe he was proposing. I was speechless at first, but after a few seconds I started freaking out saying things like, "No you aren't, this isn't real!" and, "Shut up, you're joking!" After about a minute of that, and Jimmy getting very nervous and frustrated a light finally went off in my head that I had to answer this man. I said, "Yes! Of course!" He put the ring on my finger and we kissed and hugged on his couch in his front room with the Grand Canyon on tv.

After about 15 minutes of us soaking it all in I was so jittery and excited that I had to get out of the house. I asked Jimmy if we could go see Steve at work. He laughed and said sure. On the way to Arena we both called our families to share the wonderful news. Steve was ecstatic when we got there and we spent an unreal night playing pool and talking to friends and relatives.

All night and the whole next day I had butterflies that just would not let up. My face hurt from smiling so much, and I couldn't eat because I was so excited. My dreams were finally coming true. I am going to marry the most wonderful man in the world.
