The Day Begins

The morning of the wedding started for me around 6AM when our dog Fritz woke up and wanted to eat. After feeding him and taking a quick shower sans hair washing, I went to the grocery store.

Yes, I went grocery shopping the day of my wedding. I needed something yummy for my bridesmaids to munch on while we got our hair and make-up done. Plus I needed something to do so I wouldn't go crazy waiting for everyone to arrive at 9. It felt weird walking around the store thinking "I'm getting married today!!" when all the other shoppers were going about their normal Saturday.

The stylist arrived about half an hour early to set up, and shortly after, Alison and Kris were here. I popped in the DVD "Father of the Bride" and we watched while taking turns getting our hair and make-up done.

Both Kris and Alison had issues with their hair. Neither had brought along inspiration photos to give to the stylist, so after some googling they came up with what they wanted. Well neither liked how the stylist did their hair the first time. So while they figured out what they wanted to do, I had my hair and make-up done so we wouldn't run out of time.

I look so happy here! Rest assured I was calm as ever, just ready to get the day going!

At some point my florist came by the house to drop off everyone's flowers. Steve also came by to pick up the boutonnieres for the groomsmen. This was the first time I got a glimpse of Jimmy. He was waiting outside in the car. Of course I peeked out the window! Steve was also there to take Fritz to his parents' house where his little brother Kyle would take care of him for the night and next day. I was really worried about saying goodbye to my then 4-month-old baby, but I had too many other things running through my mind so it was fine. Plus Fritz had a blast playing with their lab Dakota.

Around noon we ordered Jimmy Johns. I had read so many times from brides to remember to eat during the day. Well I took that to heart. BIG mistake. I wolfed down that sub so damn fast, I think it was in part why I felt so crappy after the ceremony. Too much deliciousness.

Eventually everyone liked how their hair and make-up turned out. By now my parents had arrived, and my mom helped me into my dress. Unfortunately I have no pictures of this. Oh well, I chose to have more time at the reception with my photographer than having her start earlier in the day with me getting ready.

Everyone was pretty and dressed. It was time to head to Lilacia Park for our first look!
