It was on a Wednesday after we ate homemade alfredo gnocchi. Sitting on the couch he put his head on my shoulder and asked, "Jilly? Will you marry me?" and then put out his pinky finger on which sat the ring. He still makes fun of me for how I responded. Instead of immediately saying "yes," I didn't know what was happening and said things like, "what are you doing?" and "that's not real. You're joking." Of course I eventually wised up and said yes.
We spent that night with our friend Steve who now is the best man. I was looking through my tweets around that time last year and this is what one said the morning after the proposal:
"My tummy hurts from being so excited for so long. My face hurts from smiling all night last night."
This engagement has really flown by. It's hard to imagine that in less than six months I'll be walking down the aisle toward him. I'm almost sad to know that our engagement is quickly coming to an end. It took a while to get used to being a fiancée instead of a girlfriend. I've enjoyed being a fiancée. I wonder what it will be like to be a wife.
